Caregivers Helping Seniors Cool off this Summer

Southern California weather is generally thought of as sunny, breezy and pleasant, and while that can be true sometimes, the temperature here has been known to reach around the 90's. Currently, in fact, the temperature has been so high that the state is finding itself in a crisis. California is experiencing a drought right now, which means that its residents have to spend this summer being mindful of how much water is used. Of course, that is hard to accomplish when the temperature is currently hot and scorching.

The heat can be especially detrimental to the health of seniors and the elderly. For this reason, families in Tustin are utilizing in home and live in caregivers to find ways to keep their loved ones cool and comfortable. A-1 Home Care realizes how serious this weather and drought can be for seniors, which is why we are delivering Senior caregivers to serve the needs of Tustin residents. With 2 years of caregiving experience under their belt, they are able to handle whatever comes their way, be it administering Incontinent Care, Companion Care, etc. They are well trained and are experts at looking after senior well being.

Group art at the Downey Care Center

Yesterday was a sunny and beautiful day- typical for Southern California. We chose the day to begin our half yearly series of art classes hosted and sponsored by A-1 Home Care at the Downey Care Center. We love meeting the elderly members of our community, and it was wonderful to get the chance to do that at the rehabilitation hospital.

Everyone gathered around in a large room, and we got to work, pulling out our colored papers, yarn, markers, and stickers to craft our own personalized bookmarks. We know that a lot of the senior citizens at the care center enjoy reading, so we thought we'd make something thematic for the occasion.

Tips on selecting an elder law Attorney/ A-1 Home Care Tustin

When mom or dad has a debilitating condition such as dementia or Alzheimer, it could be practical to hire an elder law attorney to get their affairs in order. A-1 Home Care has a few suggestions for loved ones needing such services.

We highly recommend that you look around. Ask friends, relatives, work colleagues, another attorney, or your parent’s primary care doctor for a referral. You also can contact the senior legal services provided by your local Area Agency on Aging and ask them to recommend someone. Community legal aid agencies may be able to offer you assistance as well.

Contact the local bar association in your community and request a referral to a professional who has experience in elder law. The attorney should be able to answer your questions in regard to planning for your parent’s long-term care. Inquire whether he or she has knowledge in the areas of estate planning, Social Security, Medicaid laws and regulations, and Durable Power of Attorney
